Police Blotter: Stolen Laptops, Snatched Bikes and a Disgruntled Ex-Worker

Locked lockers didn't keep thieves away from taking cash, mp3 players and a passport at a local health club. Here is a list of incidents that occurred within the past week as compiled by the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station.

Pedaling thief
Someone stole a $150 mountain bike from a parking garage of an apartment complex. The theft occurred on the 1400 block of Hayworth Avenue on Aug. 5 at about 5:30 p.m.

Someone stole a locked $1,200 bicycle from a bike rack in front of a business on the 8600 block of Santa Monica Boulevard on Aug. 9 at about 10:45 p.m. 

Watch your wallet
A woman had her wallet stolen from her purse as she shopped at a department store on the 7100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard on Aug. 6 at about 9:30 a.m The female suspect has been described as African American. The wallet contained cash, credit cards, a passport and other miscellaneous items. The total loss was estimated at about $2,000. 

Terminated thief
A store owner reported that a recently terminated employee stole several clothing and jewelry items from the business on the 8800 block of Sunset Boulevard. The suspect is described as a female African American. The loss was estimated at about $1,900.

Laptop stolen
A burglar broke into an apartment on the 800 block of Norton Avenue on Aug. 6 and stole a $500 laptop computer and caused an estimated $60 in damage. 

A burglar broke into a business on the 7700 block of Santa Monica Boulevard on Aug. 9 at about 10:30 a.m. and took a $1,000 laptop computer and caused an estimated $500 in damage to the front window. 

Package taken
A burglar broke into a business courtyard on the 8400 block of Santa Monica Boulevard and stole merchandise, valued at about $37, from a delivered package. Damage to a fence was estimated at about $500. 

TV theft
A burglar broke into a business on the 7200 block of Santa Monica Boulevard on Aug. 7 at about 7 a.m. and stole a 32-inch flat screen television and caused an estimated $1,000 in damage to a large window pane. 

Locker break-ins  
Someone stole a watch, bracelet and cash from a locked locker at a health club on the 8600 block of Santa Monica Boulevard at about 9 a.m. Aug 7. The loss was estimated at about $600. 

On the same day at the same health club, a burglar broke into a locked locker at about 8:15 p.m.and stole two MP3 players and a digital camera. The loss was estimated at about $900. 

Two days later at about 9 p.m. at the health club, a burglar opened an unlocked locker and stole a passport and clothing.

Music and movie fiend
A suspect described as a male African American stole eight CDs and DVDs from a retail business on the 7100 block of Santa Monica Boulevard on Aug. 7 at about 2 p.m. The total value of the items taken is about $150. The suspect fled on foot.

Hotel heist
A hotel guest reported that a burglar entered his room on the 8500 block of Santa Monica Boulevard on Aug. 8 at about 1:30 p.m. and stole a laptop computer, cell phone, wallet and cash. The total loss is valued at about $5,220. 

Stolen treasure
A man reported that his gold and diamond ring had been stolen at a health club on the 8500 block of Sunset Boulevard on Aug. 9 at about 6:30 p.m. The man had left the items, valued at about $5,000, unattended on a counter. 

Grand theft auto
After a license plate check revealed a stolen vehicle, a driver described as a female Hispanic was arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto on the 8400 block of Melrose Place on Aug. 10 at about 8:20 p.m.

Deputies' log

• Four suspects were arrested on suspicion of burglary or theft after being observed shoplifting at local retail businesses.
• Following four separate traffic collisions, four drivers were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
• Four vehicles were burglarized. Total estimate of damage and articles taken was $5,720.
• One vehicle was stolen.
• One reported stolen vehicle was recovered and the owner notified.
• Twenty vehicles were impounded for 30 days because they were being driven by an unlicensed driver or a person with a suspended or revoked license.
