Police Seek Shooter Behind Fatal Wounding In Los Angeles Fairfax District

Police Tuesday sought the public's help in identifying and locating a suspect who fatally shot a man in the the city's Fairfax district.

LOS ANGELES - Police Tuesday sought the public's help in identifying and locating a suspect who fatally shot a man in the Fairfax district.

Two men had been arguing, when one allegedly pulled out a gun and fired several shots at the other, said Officer Rosario Herrera, an LAPD spokeswoman.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, which was reported about 5:45 p.m. Monday on Melrose Avenue near Sierra Bonita Avenue, reported Officer Mike Lopez, an LAPD spokesman.

The suspect was last seen driving away in a black SUV, east through an alley just south of Melrose Avenue, Herrera said. He was described a 5-foot, 10- inch black man between 20 and 25 years old, wearing a dark jacket, police said.

It was unclear if the shooting was gang-related, Lopez said.
