Sheared Hydrant Sends Geyser into High Voltage Power Lines
A sheared hydrant cause dramatic explosions in Hollywood when the water shot up into high voltage power lines.

A vehicle sheared a fire hydrant today in Hollywood, sending up a geyser that combined water with high-voltage lines, resulting in some explosions, but no one was hurt, authorities said.
The problem was reported in the 6700 block of Santa Monica Boulevard about 7 a.m., said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power was notified so the lines could be de-energized as a safety measure while the water was shut off, Scott said.
