Shots Fired Call in Weho May Be Related to Valley Homicides, Deputies Say

The victim's vehicle sustained significant damage by gunfire which resulted in a blown out rear window and damage to the bed of the truck.

From the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department:

On Friday, Aug. 22 at 11 p.m., West Hollywood Sheriff’s Station deputies responded to the intersection of Gardner Street and Santa Monica Boulevard, in the city of West Hollywood, regarding a “shots fired” call.

The victims (later identified as residents of West Hollywood ) were driving southbound on Highland Avenue, passed the Hollywood Bowl, from Universal City, when they noticed a tan- or gold-colored Chevrolet SUV with a male Hispanic driver (sole occupant) next to the victim’s vehicle passenger side. The suspect continuously looked toward the victim’s direction.

As the victims drove eastbound on Santa Monica Boulevard, they lost sight of the suspect’s SUV. As the victims continued to drive, they noticed the suspect’s SUV directly behind them, driving with the headlights off. The victims turned onto Gardner Street from Santa Monica Boulevard, when the suspect’s SUV drove next to the victim’s vehicle passenger side and fired three rounds from a shotgun. The victims were not injured from the gunfire nor from the shattered glass from the blown out rear window.

The victim’s vehicle sustained significant damage by gunfire which resulted in a blown out rear window and damage to the bed of the truck.

LASD investigators are currently looking into similarities with this case and the recent homicides that occurred Aug. 24 in the San Fernando Valley area, along with LAPD investigators.
