Skunk Spray on Dog Sickens 10 Employees of Weho Vet Clinic

A hazardous materials team is called to the scene.

Skunk spray on a dog sickened 10 employees of a West Hollywood veterinary clinic, a county fire dispatcher said Sunday.

Someone at the clinic called the fire department from the TLC Veterinary Centers at 8725 W. Santa Monica Blvd. about 10:50 p.m. Saturday, dispatcher Ed Pickett said.

Firefighters cleared the clinic, and a Burbank hazardous materials team determined the odor was from a skunk, another county fire spokesman said.

Skunks can spray a foul, sulfurous odor up to about 10 feet. It is typically strong enough to ward off much larger animals, such as bears.
