Suspect Axes Man In Head At West Hollywood 7-Eleven

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect who used an axe to strike a man in the head at a West Hollywood 7-Eleven store Saturday. Sheriff's Deputies learned that the suspect was stealing items from the convenience store when the victim offered to pay for them, said Sgt. Jeffrey Bishop of the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station.

"The suspect became upset, refused the victim's offer and a struggle ensued," Bishop said. "As the victim left the location the suspect pulled out an axe and began to hit him in the head several times," he said. "The suspect fled the location heading northbound on Hayworth Avenue and out of view."

Deputies were dispatched at 4:10 a.m. to the convenience store at 7950 Santa Monica Blvd., Bishop said. A deputy spotted the suspect in the area of Fountain and Fairfax avenues, where a perimeter was set up and a K9 unit was sent in, said Sgt. Angel Fisher of the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station.

Deputies could not find the suspect and the search was concluded about 9:10 a.m., she said. Officials said the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
