Three Dead and 12 Wounded in Mass Shooting at West Adams Restaurant

Three people are dead and at 12 others injured after a shooting at home in West Adams that may have been turned into a restaurant. Police say that it appears there was a birthday celebration going on.

One suspect and a second is being sought, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Police were called to the home around 12:30 Saturday morning after reports of "shots fired." They arrived to what a sergeant with the LAPD described to the LA Times as "a bloody scene with shell casings everywhere."

Witnesses told police that an unknown number of people became involved an argument - and some either left and came back and opened fire or opened fire before leaving.

The Los Angeles Times reports that two "persons of interest" are in custody and they continue looking for other suspects. Police say a gun was recovered at the scene.

The injuries of those shot ranged from critical to stable, but serious, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the LAPD's Media Relations Section. Some of the victims were transported to the hospital by ambulance while others drove themselves.

The genders and ages of the victims have not been disclosed.

"Los Angeles grieves for the senseless loss of lives in one of our most cherished neighborhoods. My prayers go out for the victims and their families," said Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer.

Neighbors expressed shock at what happened.

"I'm actually shocked to hear this, around this area because we don't really have any problems with anybody," a neighbor, Trason Leslie, told CBS LA. "Everyone knows everyone and we're all pretty much like family."
