The Sunset Strip Market comes together for its weekly evening on the Strip. Hamburger Mary's hosts a drag competition. Comedy Store hosts Crack 'em Up Thursday.

Greetings and welcome to City Scoop. Today is Thursday, July 5, the 187th day of 2012. Here’s what’s going on in West Hollywood today.
The Sunset Strip is the happening place on Thursday nights thanks to the new Sunset Strip Market, a certified farmers’ market that also features live music and cooking demonstrations. Open 5-9 p.m., the Sunset Strip Market is in the old Tower Records overflow parking lot, just east of Horn Avenue.

Thursdays at the are always a treat, offering a chance to see comedians working on new jokes. Rising star Tony Baker hosts the night that sometimes attracts big stars needing an audience upon whom to try out new material. You never know who might take the stage. Dave Chappelle, Damon Wayans and Chris Tucker have all stopped by in the past. Crack ‘em Up Thursday starts at 9:30 p.m.

West Hollywood may have its share of drag queens, but there’s always room for more. Every drag performer had to get her start by competing in a show somewhere. Hamburger Mary’s offers the chance for that start with its “Tiger Heat” drag competition. Sign up is at 9 p.m., show is at 10 p.m. Vicky Vox hosts the show.
