Women and Books

The monthly Women and Books book club, meets to discuss the June reading – We Need to Talk About Kevin: A Novel by Lionel Shriver. Despite the deceiving first name, Shriver is a prolific female author and journalist. We Need to Talk About Kevin deals with a woman coming to terms with her disintegrating marriage and career in the aftermath of her 16-year-old son going on a shooting spree. Alzheimer’s in Verse

Sometimes prose doesn’t tell a story as effectively as poetry. In the case of her memoir about her mother’s Alzheimer’s disease, Judy Prescott has put everything to rhyme, thereby capturing nuances that might have been missed otherwise.
