This Valentine’s Day, Kristine W Sees The ‘Good’ in Goodbye

Music/Entertainment

Kristine W’s chart topping single, “Love Come Home,” was about the joy of finding that special someone. However, the artist who Billboard Magazine named among the decade’s top dance music artists, is beginning to see the upside of single-hood.

This Valentine’s Day, Kristine’s celebrating the emancipation from her, as she now refers to him, “6’4, 240 pound cheater-husband.”

“We had been together a long time,” she explains. “We had been through so much, including creating two beautiful kids, so the betrayal runs deep. I’ve been in a fog for a solid three months and it has hurt like hell but I'm finally beginning to feel like myself again. I’m starting to see the good in goodbye.”

Kristine is thankful she had an album project to pour her sorrows in. Though she hasn’t decided on a title yet, she did release the first single, “Out There,” earlier this year. The song peaked at #3 on the Billboard Dance chart. At its core, it is a lush, theatrical ballad about appreciating life as a journey and never giving up as the thing you most desire is likely closer than you think.

“Sometimes you have to walk away from all you've known and have faith that you will end up exactly where you belong,” Kristine continues.

She’s not giving up on love. She considers herself an expert on the topic, pointing out that in her 22 years in music, many of her hits have focused on all different types of “love”.

"Love Reigns" from her Stronger album was written after an uplifting interaction with a homeless man in New York. “He was sitting on a cardboard box with a piece of plastic over it on a bench in the park,” she recalls. “Despite his circumstances, he was so pleasant, I just had to write about him.”

Also from her Stronger album is "Stand in Love” about how people often lose themselves in relationships and forget to demand respect.

"Love is the Look” from her The Power of Music album is about how people actually look different when they are in love. “They have a glow and bounce in their step,” she says. “It’s very special, almost magical.”

This Valentine’s Day, instead of a box of chocolate, Kristine says she’ll count her many blessings with a box of Kleenex. “Navigating my way through life, family, love and the music business, I have learned a couple of things,” Kristine concludes. “I’m a great mom, a loyal partner who is way too tolerant, and music continues to ‘Save My Soul’”.
