Watch: Firefighters Rescue Trapped Dog in West Hollywood
A pup is back with its family after getting tightly wedged between a house and retaining wall Monday.

A West Hollywood pup wedged between a house and a retaining wall is reunited with its family today thanks to Los Angeles County Fire firefighters.
Firefighters were called to the 9000 block of Lloyd Place at 3:39 p.m. Monday. There they found a little yellow dog awkwardly wedged into a gap between the house and wall.
“Each time the dog would whimper or cry, he’d fall deeper into the 6-inch gap,” said Inspector Randall Wright.

Every wiggle further wedged the poor animal into the crack, forcing the rescue crew to find a creative solution. They slid a pike pole, which is normally used to pull down ceilings during a fire, under the dog to prevent him from falling farther, then tied webbing around his paws and pulled him out, according the department’s Facebook page.
The dog was reunited with his family, and the incident was a “great training opportunity for firefighters,” said Wright.

Wright added that video from the incident may be used to train firefighters who might encounter a similar situation in the future.
