Weho Hosts Gay Shark Tank Website Launch Party
Gaysharktank.com debuted its new website designed to connect gay people face to face via webcams from all over the world.
Celebrities, friends, guests and fans received a small sample of the new website at the official Gay Shark Tank launch party on Thursday night at night club with stand-up comedienne, singer and actress Julie Brown opening the evening with a special performance from her new comedy, pop-dance single "Another Drunk Chick."
Gay Shark Tank is a comedic short film about a "gay knock off site" that received critical success along with tons of attention on the U.S. film festival circuit last year. Director Guy Shalem and producer, Jordan Seltzer recognized the importance of communication and attribute this to the key of their own success. "We wanted to create a web based destination for gay men, lesbians, and their allies to help connect on a more emotional and intellectual level," Shalem said.
The short film shows how 25 strangers try to find love and connect with other LGBT users online.

The site intends to help break down superficial barriers and create a safe environment for establishing dialogue. “It's a way to find other LGBT's and begin a conversation. We want gay marriage and all these things; we have important issues and topics that we have not been able to address until now. A lot of sites just focus on your looks, which after a certain point you realize how trivial that is and that it does not really matter,” Seltzer said.
Gay Shark Tank's cam-to-cam communication experience offers members the option of selecting “next” to connect with different people of similar or even totally different interests that are not defined by look or location. Having this kind of open forum can offer the closeted Midwest boy, questioning youth, parents with questions, and living role models a voice.
