West Hollywood Local Legend, 'WeHo Jesus,' Dead At 57

Kevin Short, also known as Kevin Lee Light, was one of the of the most beloved, eccentric figures of West Hollywood.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – Kevin Short, also known as Kevin Lee Light but more famously known as WeHo Jesus, has died at 57 years old. In a Facebook post by Short's neighbor Brian Hamilton, a "brief illness" is cited as the cause of death; family members told TMZ that he died Dec. 13 after a brief hospitalization in Los Angeles for pulmonary issues.

Short was a local West Hollywood legend with his Holy get-up: sleek, brown tresses and scruffy beard, wearing a flowing long, white robe. He was often seen holding a sign that read "marry who you love," and was “such a celebrity on Sunset Boulevard that he has featured in Lana Del Rey’s music videos and rock band Aerosmith even wrote a song, ‘Street Jesus,’ about him,” according to The Independent.

He's even been featured on Thrillist's list of "LA's 12 Most Lovable Local Weirdos," and a Twitter account called "I Saw Jesus In LA" was set up to document sightings of the Lord and Savior, Short. He was a beloved figure for locals and tourists alike.

On his Twitter account, he described himself as "LA's Jesus, TMZ's Hollywood Jesus, Aerosmith's Street Jesus, Snoop's Sunset Jesus, WeHo's Rainbow Jesus, and LMFAO'S Party Rock Jesus for Barbara Ann." In the wake of his death, his fans have sent an outpouring of positive messages in remembrance, with sentiments such as "Kevin was love." Twitter user Murray Swanby wrote "R.I.P WeHo Jesus, who always told everyone they are loved and special. Honestly a beautiful soul. You and your light will be missed."
