West Hollywood Proclaims Wednesday 'Stormy Daniels Day'

The adult film actress will also receive a Key to the City to recognize her leadership in the #RESIST movement.

WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA – Adult film star Stormy Daniels will receive a City Proclamation and Key to the City of West Hollywood Wednesday to recognize her leadership in the #RESIST movement, according to a city press release. West Hollywood will also proclaim May 23 as "Stormy Daniels Day."The City of West Hollywood said in a statement that Daniels, whose legal name is Stephanie Clifford, has "proven herself to be a profile in courage by speaking truth to power even under threats to her safety and extreme intimidation."

After President Donald Trump was elected, the West Hollywood City Council affirmed the City of West Hollywood’s commitment as a Sanctuary City and reaffirmed the City’s commitment to its core values, which includes respect and support for people, the press release said. The proclamation is a sign of the times: A reality TV star occupies the White House, an adult film actress is leading the resistance, and a major American city is giving out a key to the city for being a thorn in the president’s side.

Daniels became involved in a legal dispute with President Trump and his attorney Michael Cohen earlier this year. Trump and his team allegedly paid Daniels $130,000 to keep quiet about an affair she claims she had with Trump in 2006, although Trump's spokespersons have denied the affair.
