3 Treated for Heat Sickness at Woodland Hills Cross-Country Meet

Three runners at a Pierce College a cross-country meet suffered heat-related illness racing in 93 degree temperatures.

WOODLAND HILLS, CA -- The heat took a toll today on a few runners competing in a cross-country meet in Woodland Hills.

Firefighters called about 3:25 p.m. to Pierce College evaluated three males for heat-related illness, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Two of them were taken to a hospital and one declined transport, Stewart said.

They were among 14 runners participating in the meet, she said.

A high temperature of 93 degrees was recorded in Woodland Hills today, according to the National Weather Service.
