Congressman Sherman – Don’t Bring Your Candidate To The Podium. Preparation meets opportunity.

Media writers and editorial cartoonists would have you believe the Republican Party demographics and their target voter are a very select minority of white someone or somebody or some-entity.  Yet, if you look at the GOP candidates, their volunteers, and those who agree  and vote for the candidates; it is a reflection  of ethnicity which paints the face of America.

Indeed, the candidate for 45th assembly, Chris Kolski, is an immigrant from Poland who has successfully utilized the opportunities afforded residents, citizens, and hard working green card holders. As an engineer, home owner, and educator he is representative of the equality of opportunity in America.

 Ironically, Congressman Brad Sherman sent out an invitation for his Community town hall meeting emphasizing the needs of constituents with immigration problems would and could be addressed.  Which sounds very efficient and generous but there are three problems.  

1) The definition of constituent pretty much eliminates a large population with  immigration problems (constituent means you are a voter) . 

2) The Field Representative is a candidate for State Assembly and in need of a demographic of voters who are immigration sensitive.

 3) Said Field Representative has been endorsed by Brad Sherman.  Said Field Representative had campaign workers distributing flyers on the campus.  Preparation meets opportunity.

If you think there is such a thing as regularly scheduled Townhall meetings then look at these statistics.  The website for Congressman Sherman boasted in 2012 he had held to date 160 Townhall Meetings as a Congressman, with a caveat “He also does TownHall Meetings limited to the students of a particular high school or middle school, or residents of a particular retirement community or employees of particular employers.”  BUT in 2009 the figure was over 100 Townhall meetings (see Archive section of the website).  Then by looking at the website, Rep Sherman is careful to boast of his meanderings back home,  I calculated 34 meetings/events published between 2004 and 2012.   

The most prolific number of Townhall meetings are in election years: six in 2006 and 2004, and seven in 2012 during the “Battle of the Democrats”.    So clearly these meetings are also thinly disguised campaign platforms, funded by Congressional not campaign money.   But the bigger question becomes where were the 60 meetings between 2009 and 2012?  I count nineteen.  Who monitors the validity or distinction of a meeting vs a campaign junket?

Also noteworthy  is the spacing of the meetings, usually 30-90 days apart, EXCEPT last year during the heat of his campaign.  Aug 5th and then August 27th.   This is repeated in 2013 (a non-congressional election year) June 2, 2013 Sherman Oaks,   Aug 25, 2013  Woodland Hills, and then TWENTY-ONE days later September 15th 2013 again in Woodland Hills.  Clearly Congressman Sherman’s  endorsed candidate, in the September 17th election for the 45th Assembly, is going to get a boost of advertising and community support by this last minute campaign trek at a Townhall Meeting.      Now all any one of the seven Democrat candidates need to do is insure the front runner Republican does not get enough votes to make it to November, as was done in the primary resulting in the dramatic faux “you otta retire Berman” vs “keep outta my district Sherman” race of 2012.

These tactics to lock out candidates, to lock out parties with one-issue focus (aka Green party), to maintain a super-majority is creating a monopoly in the political face of California.   Congressman Sherman’s efforts to embrace non-voters as if they were constituents while thwarting  diversified elections, opinions of the citizens, and dancing around election protocol is shameful and possibly illegal. 

Hmmm better yet, what if the well qualified, engineer, educator, advocate for careers and jobs, and good citizen  Chris Kolski were to get enough votes to win in September?      Maybe the antics of faux townhalls and electioneering  would stop throughout the state.  Please watch this video by Chris Kolski "stop One Party Rule in California"  and cast your vote on September 17th!  http://www.votekolski.com/one_party_rule_in_ca
