County firefighters sent two helicopters to help get the upper hand on a blaze near Glendale Community College.

A brush fire burning in Glendale scorched about four acres near the Glendale (2) Freeway and Mountain Street, near Glendale Community College, authorities said today.
The Los Angeles County Fire Department has sent two helicopters and a first-alarm brush fire response contingent to assist Glendale Fire Department counterparts in battling that brush fire burning near Glendale Community College, county fire Inspector Randall Wright said.
The blaze was reported about 1:45 p.m.,

Mountain Street was closed between Verdugo Road and the freeway, from which flames and smoke were visible.
No structures were threatened and no evacuations were ordered, according to the city.
