Fire Destroys Topanga Home

A two-alarm fire tore through a two-story home on Old Topanga Canyon Road Saturday.

A fire destroyed a two-story house in Topanga today.

The blaze, which went to two alarms and forced firefighters into defensive positions, was reported at 3:09 p.m. at a 2,500-square-foot single- family home in the 1100 block of Old Topanga Canyon Road, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatch supervisor.

A second alarm was requested at 3:21 p.m. and the fire was knocked down at 4:15 p.m., the dispatcher said.

Flames burned through the home’s roof as firefighters were fought the blaze from outside the structure, officials said.

The cause was under investigation but lighting was reported in the area when the fire broke out, according to the fire department.
