Group Devises Nice Way To Tell Your Neighbors They're Water-Wasters

For every California resident who has wanted to say something to a neighbor wasting water by overwatering their lawn or leaving a hose running, a Bay Area environmental group has an suggestion: leave a friendly note.

San Francisco Baykeeper, an advocacy group that works to protect the water quality of the Bay, today released a water conservation reminder note that drought-conscious Bay Area residents can leave when they see water being wasted.

The reminder note has options for suggesting neighbors save water by moving sprinklers so that they don’t run into the street, turn sprinklers off when it is raining and sweeping instead of hosing down the driveway.

“People have heard we’re in a serious drought, but sometimes it’s hard for us to realize that our actions at home can have a big impact,” Sejal Choksi-Chugh, Baykeeper’s executive director, said in a statement. “Baykeeper hopes this note can spark neighborly conversations, inspire residents to help raise awareness and encourage everyone to do more to conserve water.”
