Hiker Airlifted from Santa Monica Mountains

Firefighters are rescuing a distressed hiker on the Temescal Ridge Trail.

A woman who fell ill while hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains in Pacific Palisades was airlifted to a hospital by paramedics today, a fire department spokesman said.

“I don’t know her age,” the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Brian Humphrey said. “I believe she was older and got sick while hiking on the Temescal Ridge Trail in Topanga State Park.”

A 911 call was received at 8:38 a.m., Humphrey said. A paramedic ground crew hiked to the woman’s location and a helicopter was called in to the scene, he added.
