On-Location Filming Drops in LA
Now there are only 9,396 on-location Shoot Days in LA annually.

Scripted television production picked up steam in Los Angeles during the second quarter of the year compared with the same period last year, but on-location filming overall saw a 1.9 percent decline, according to figures released today.
Although on-location filming dropped to 9,396 Shoot Days (SD), some television production categories made strong showings, with television drama activity up 12.3 percent to 1,004 SD; sitcom projects growing 94.2 percent to 505 SD; and web-based television show production up 34 percent to 437 shoot days, according to the report by FilmL.A., the local film permitting office.
Meanwhile, television reality show production declined 13.7 percent during the second quarter to 1,420 shoot days, according to FilmL.A.’s report.

Local feature film production was flat, rising just 0.4 percent to 1,193 SD during the second quarter, while commercial shoots fell 7.3 percent to 1,248 SD.
“This is a mixed report, but things are certainly looking brighter for television in Los Angeles,” FilmL.A. President Paul Audley said. “The year- round production of scripted series, plus the support of the California Film & Television Tax Credit, invites an optimistic outlook for this segment.”
