Man Dies in Fiery Woodland Hills Crash

A 25-year-old man died when his Lexus veered into a tree and caught fire.

A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Woodland Hills early today.

The crash occurred near the intersection of Burbank Boulevard and Platt Avenue at 3:17 a.m., a Los Angeles Police officer at the Valley Traffic Division said.

The motorist, driving a late model Lexus southbound on Platt Avenue, for unknown reasons, crossed over into the northbound lanes and struck the tree, causing the vehicle to catch fire, said Los Angeles police Sgt. Randy Modrell of the Valley Traffic Division.

“The driver was unable to extricate himself from the vehicle,” said Modrell, adding the motorist was the lone occupant in his car.

The motorist appeared to be a 25-year-old man, said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
