Man Fatally Shot in Woodland Hills; Suspect Sought

Dexterkane James, 22, of Los Angeles died at the scene, the LAPD reported.

WOODLAND HILLS, CA -- Authorities Wednesday sought a man who fatally shot another man during a possible carjacking in Woodland Hills. The shooting was reported about 8 p.m. Tuesday in the 23000 block of Leonora Drive, near Royer Avenue, according to Officer Tony Im of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Dexterkane James, 22, of Los Angeles died at the scene, the LAPD reported.

A dark charcoal or black newer-model Dodge Challenger that police believe was connected to the crime was found abandoned about five miles away at Overland and Stonegate drives, and a man was seen getting into a gray Mercedes- Benz hardtop that headed eastbound on Stonegate Drive, Im said. He was described as being of Middle Eastern descent, 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing a black jacket and dark pants, possibly jeans, Im said.

Detectives were investigating whether the suspect and James knew one another.

Witness Sam Kindseth told ABC7 that the victim "was bloody, he didn't look like he was coming back. As soon as it happened I was non-stop shaking."
