Police to Hold a Series of DUI Checkpoints and Patrols Throughout LA County
From Malibu to Echo Park, police are planning a series of DUI checkpoints and saturation patrols to combat drunk driving.

A law enforcement effort was underway today to combat drunken driving through the Labor Day weekend, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
As part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, the LAPD will conduct a five-hour sobriety/driver’s license checkpoint beginning at 8 p.m. at Sunset Boulevard and Laveta Terrace in the Echo Park area, according to police. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department will be holding a checkpoint at an undisclosed location in Malibu Friday night.
Also, extra eight-hour patrols will be conducted beginning about 6 p.m. in the Central, Wilshire and Pacific areas, police said.
