Second Man Arrested in Kidnapping/Shooting of Dodgers Pitcher's Brother

A second suspect wanted in connection with the kidnapping and shooting of the brother of Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Josh Ravin in West Hills turned himself into authorities this week.

James Baggett, 28, of Panorama City was the subject of an arrest warrant. He turned himself in at the Van Nuys courthouse, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Another man, 30-year-old Randall Elmer Stinson of Winnetka has pleaded not guilty to two counts of attempted murder and one count each of kidnapping to commit robbery and kidnapping, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Prosecutors allege Joel Keith Ravin was kidnapped, forced into a vehicle and driven to various locations on Oct. 4. The 30-year-old man was then driven back to his West Hills residence, where he was shot multiple times, but survived, according to police and prosecutors.

Stinson, who was arrested Oct. 20, is due back in a Van Nuys courtroom on Nov. 25, when a date is scheduled to be set for a hearing to determine if there is enough evidence to require him to stand trial.

Baggett was being held in lieu of $2.075 million bail at the Inmate Reception Center in downtown Los Angeles, according to sheriff’s online inmate records.
