Update: Details Emerge About Heroin Death Arrestee
Police say he is the brother of the victim's friend.

A 23-year-old man was behind bars Thursday for allegedly administering a fatal dose of heroin to a 13-year-old boy at a Woodland Hills home.
Brett Cronin was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of the teen, whose name was not released, said Richard French of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers responded around 9:10 a.m. Wednesday to a home in the 5300 block of Manton Avenue and found the 13-year-old boy's body, French said.

"Homicide detectives ... determined that a resident at the location, 23-year-old Brett Cronin, had administered the fatal dose of heroin to the victim,'' French said.
Detectives believe the victim went to spend the night at a 13-year-old friend's house, and Cronin is the unidentified friend's older brother, French said.

"It appears the victim voluntarily injected the heroin but had a life-threatening reaction,'' French said, adding that the reaction later proved to be fatal.
The exact cause of death is expected to be determined by the coroner's office, French said. Cronin remains jailed in Van Nuys in lieu of $1 million bail, according to the sheriff's Inmate Information Center.
