Vehicle Shears Hydrants, Sends Water Gushing

The driver was uninjured.

A vehicle sheared off a hydrant today in Woodland Hills and ended up in a nearby wash, authorities said.

The crash in the 22000 block of Vanowen Street was reported about 6:30 a.m., said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The driver was uninjured, Scott said.

Crews were sent to shut off the flow of water, which spouted an estimated 60 feet into the air after the crash.
