A 15-year-old girl was “car surfing” when she suffered fatal injuries in Tarzana, according to one of her friends.
The claim has not been confirmed by police, who say they are sorting through conflicting reports from more than a dozen teens present at the time.
The victim was found by a friend lying bleeding on the ground in the 3500 block of Reseda Boulevard in Tarzana around 9:15 p.m. Monday, according to an officer in the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.

The friend took the teen to a hospital, where she died.
LAPD Detective Bill Bustos told reporters the victim, whose name has not yet been released, had been among a group of 10-15 teens gathered at the scene.

One of the girl’s friends, Liam Giat, told ABC7 that the victim was hanging onto a moving vehicle when she fell off and hit hit her head, but police have not confirmed the account.
“Detectives are covering every single angle possible on this said,” Officer S. Anderson.
However, they have not determined that the teen was car surfing when she died, he said. Detectives are dealing with juvenile witnesses and conflicting accounts, authorities added.
