Woodland Hills Boy Killed in Lake Arrowhead Boating Accident

The boy fell overboard when the boat, which was pulling a water skier, turned to retrieved the skier who fell.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A 4-year-old boy from Woodland Hills was killed in a boating accident in Lake Arrowhead, in San Bernardino County, the coroner's office said Monday.

At 4:21 p.m. Saturday, Gideon Zilberstein was overrun by a boat, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner's Office.

Paramedics dispatched to the location pronounced Zilberstein dead at the scene at 4:33 p.m. Saturday.

The Inland Valley Daily Bulletin reported that the boy was riding in the bow section of a boat while it was pulling a water skier. When the skier fell, the boat operator made a turn to retrieve the skier.

But the child fell over the side and was then struck by the boat as it turned to retrieve the skier, the newspaper reported on its web site.

"The child suffered traumatic injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene," said Deputy Olivia Bozek, in an email to the Daily Bulletin.
