Woodland Hills Girl Loses Battle With Cancer
Jessica Silver succumbed to a rare form of the disease Monday night.

An El Camino High School freshman who had been battling nut midline carcinoma lost her battle with the disease Monday night, according to media reports and family friends.
Jessica Silver, 14, was surrounded by family and friends when she died, according to MyFoxLA. She is survived by her parents and sister, Amanda.
On a Facebook page dedicated to her, friends left messages to Jessica and her family. Twitter was also ablaze with notes to and about her.

"The world lost a whole lot of its light yesterday. You will be missed, Jessica. Rest in peace. Thank you for being an inspiration to everyone who knew or heard of you," wrote Sam Masyr.
Eric Geller wrote, "R.I.P. Jessica. I know you gave it a tremendous fight kicking its ass when you could. I will miss your wonderful personality and that amazing fighting spirit you displayed. Your battle and zest for life is an inspiration to all of us."

Getting her junior high school diploma was an accomplishment for which she was proud.
"It was amazing and even if you're fighting something terrible and you think you can't do it, I did it. I just walked across the stage and I graduated. Class of 2012. I did it. I did it," she told a Fox reporter at the time.
