• California residents woke up to a massive mining project near their homes (latination.com) — Wrightwood residents are fighting a massive open-pit mining project planned just over four miles away in Lone Pine Canyon, citing wildfire evacuation risks and environmental damage. After learning in 2025 that permits were quietly granted years earlier, locals formed the Lone Pine Canyon Protection Alliance, secured political support, and filed a legal challenge now moving through the courts to overturn the county's approval.
