• YVHS and JSES recognized as National Banner Unified Champion Schools by Special Olympics (z1077fm.com) — Yucca Valley High School has earned Special Olympics' top National Banner Unified Champion School recognition, celebrating years of work to fully include students of all abilities. Through Unified PE, leadership, sports, and events like pep assemblies and a Disability Awareness Fair, YVHS and Joshua Tree Elementary are being honored for building welcoming campuses that value every student's contributions.
• Felon accused of vandalizing cars and mailboxes adds assault to arrest report (z1077fm.com) — Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a man vandalizing cars and mailboxes on Barberry Avenue in Yucca Valley, ultimately arresting 29-year-old probationer Austen Burke. After his booking, another resident reported Burke had threatened to shoot them and tried to run them over hours earlier, leading to added assault-with-a-deadly-weapon charges and his being held without bail.
