📰 News we're reading

• Arvada considers paid parking in Olde Town (kdvr.com) — Arvada is weighing whether to introduce paid parking in Olde Town, and the city is actively surveying residents through Sept. 9 before making any decisions. Officials say high on-street parking demand and underused free garage spaces are driving the discussion, while local business owners and visitors worry fees could hurt revenue and deter regular trips downtown.

• Goalies stand on their heads as Columbine and Golden go scoreless in boys soccer action (coloradopreps.com) — A boys soccer showdown at Arvada's North Area Athletic Complex ended in a 0–0 draw as Columbine and Golden goalkeepers turned away every chance. Both teams stayed unbeaten, with Golden yet to concede a goal this season and Columbine's high-scoring offense finally slowed, setting up important league and non-league tests in the coming week.

• Arvada police release video of bear scavenging through trash cans (krdo.com) — A bear recently wandered through an Arvada neighborhood, testing but failing to open tightly secured trash cans, and police released video as a reminder to stay bear-aware. Residents are urged to use bear-resistant containers, bring pet food indoors, thoroughly clean grills, and give any nearby bears plenty of space so they don't learn to return for easy meals.
