📰 News we're reading

• 23rd Annual Cemetery Tour to highlight Arvada's indigenous history (arvadapress.com) — Arvada residents can explore the city's deeper Indigenous history at the Historical Society's 23rd Annual Cemetery Tour on Sept. 26 at Arvada Cemetery. Guided storytellers will share researched histories of five tribal leaders, with tribal members invited to participate, as part of a broader local effort to better acknowledge Native presence and stories in Arvada.

• Arvada City Council recommends residency restrictions for sex offenders (arvadapress.com) — Arvada's city council is moving toward an ordinance that would bar most registered sex offenders from living within 500 feet of schools, playgrounds, pools, daycares, childcare facilities and libraries, and impose 1,000‑foot buffers plus parks and trails for violent offenders. The draft, which wouldn't displace current residents, raises questions about neighborhood impacts and whether such limits actually reduce reoffending.

• Arvada city leaders to present Olde Town paid parking proposal to city council Tuesday (denver7.com) — If you drive to Olde Town Arvada, city leaders are weighing a paid parking system that could charge for prime on-street spots while keeping the Grandview parking hub's 600 spaces free. With demand often above 90% capacity, officials say fees could improve turnover and fund enforcement, while residents and businesses worry about costs and lost customers.
