Today's riddle: What do you call a paper airplane that can't fly? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Horse Protection League hosting Harvest Festival on Oct. 10 (arvadapress.com) — Arvada's Horse Protection League is inviting residents to its free Harvest Festival on Oct. 10 at historic Churches Ranch, now owned by the city. From 2 to 8 p.m., families can enjoy live music, horse demonstrations, kids' activities, and food while supporting the volunteer‑run nonprofit's work rescuing and rehoming horses and other equines.
2. Arvada launching Olde Town ambassador program 'Block by Block' (arvadapress.com) — Olde Town Arvada is getting four uniformed "ambassadors" to boost cleanliness, safety, and support for unhoused residents, funded at $439,000 a year for three years. Working Wednesday through Sunday afternoons and evenings, they'll handle litter, graffiti, basic maintenance reports, and help connect people in need with services, aiming to improve the experience in the city's historic downtown core.
3. Colorado cities of Brighton, Arvada weigh data centers moratoriums (cbsnews.com) — Arvada officials are weighing an 18‑month pause on new data centers so they can update zoning, building, and land‑use rules to address noise, water, and energy impacts. A public hearing and final council vote are set for Oct. 6, and the outcome could shape how large, power‑hungry facilities are built in and around the city.
4. Boo! These Concerts Are Made for Halloween (cpr.org) — Halloween‑themed concerts around Colorado this month include a "slightly spooky" Evergreen Chorale program that will perform in Arvada for the first time. Ralston Valley High School's Select Choir from Arvada will join the show, alongside other seasonal events from Boulder to Colorado Springs featuring live scores to classic films and family‑friendly music experiences.
