1. Colorado's largest data center could rise next to homes — without a public hearing (coloradonewsline.com) — A massive Trident data center is proposed in a half-built Aurora neighborhood, potentially becoming Colorado's largest and moving forward without a public hearing because of existing zoning rules. Residents and Councilmember Amy Wiles are raising concerns about pollution, diesel generators, water use, and how these projects could reshape Aurora's growth as the city considers new regulations.
2. New AdventHealth ER, medical campus in Aurora Highlands will start seeing patients next week (sentinelcolorado.com) — Residents in northeast Aurora will soon have a new option for urgent and emergency care as AdventHealth's 88,000-square-foot Aurora Highlands campus opens and begins seeing patients next week. The Main Street facility will offer a 24/7 ER, imaging, primary care and specialty services, with plans for a future hospital and energy-saving geothermal system.
3. Someone intentionally disrupted the oxygen supply at Colorado's largest hospital (king5.com) — UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora recently had its primary oxygen supply intentionally disrupted, forcing staff to quickly move patients to backup systems and switch the facility to a secondary source. No patients were harmed, but police have identified a suspect, and the hospital is tightening security around its oxygen infrastructure to prevent future incidents.
4. Mormon church expands U.S. real estate empire (knewz.com) — A massive new master-planned community called Tributary is slated for nearly 1,000 acres in Aurora near Denver International Airport, with Aurora providing the water. The Mormon church's real estate arm plans thousands of homes, parks, a school, a fire station, and retail, positioning the project to eventually house more than 12,000 residents as part of its nationwide property expansion.
5. 40+ Double Dutch club gives Denver area women a place to jump, heal and bond (9news.com) — Women 40 and older in Aurora gather every Saturday morning at the old Paris Elementary School to jump double Dutch, laugh and support each other. The Denver chapter of the national 40+ Double Dutch club blends exercise, mental health and sisterhood, offering local women a judgment-free space to play, heal from past trauma and build new friendships.
