Today's riddle: What is clean when it is black and dirty when it is white? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Week past: The week past in Aurora prep sports, 9.29-10.5.26 (sentinelcolorado.com) — Aurora high school athletes packed the past week with standout performances across volleyball, softball, soccer, cross country, flag football, field hockey, tennis, and gymnastics. From Cherokee Trail and Eaglecrest softball surges to Grandview's dominant flag football showings and multiple all‑Aurora matchups, this roundup recaps scores, key stats, and league implications for prep teams citywide.
2. Rail district miscommunication sends wrong ballots to 800,000 voters in and near Aurora (sentinelcolorado.com) — Roughly 800,000 voters in and around Aurora, including about 262,000 in Arapahoe County, mistakenly received ballots containing a Front Range rail sales-tax question they aren't eligible to vote on. State and county officials say residents should still vote normally, and election workers will later separate out ineligible votes on Issue 7A while counting the rest of each ballot as usual.
3. Abandoned Tow Hitch Sparks Tesla Fire Near Arapahoe Road in Colorado, Prompting Smoke Precautions and Lane Closures Tuesday Morning (newsbreak.com) — A Tesla fire near Arapahoe Road and Waco Street in Aurora shut down the road Tuesday morning and prompted firefighters to urge nearby residents to close windows and turn off HVAC systems because of thick smoke. Investigators say an abandoned tow hitch struck by several vehicles triggered the blaze, which fortunately caused no injuries but disrupted the morning commute until lanes gradually reopened.
4. Bank forecloses on notorious Aurora apartment building (denverpost.com) — A troubled apartment building at 1208 Dallas St. in Aurora's Edge at Lowry complex has been taken over by U.S. Bank after no one bid at a foreclosure auction. Residents had already moved out following safety and rent-collection problems, while a community group has purchased the complex's other buildings and plans a multimillion-dollar renovation and rebranding effort.
