• Basalt restaurant owner throws out armed intruder (aspendailynews.com) — A Basalt restaurant owner wrestled a gun away from a masked man who allegedly threatened to kill him inside his closed eatery Monday afternoon, then forced the intruder outside. Basalt police later arrested a 43-year-old local resident on burglary and felony menacing charges after setting up a perimeter, and no injuries were reported to the owner or his staff.
• Rams Report: Soccer picks up league win for homecoming (soprissun.com) — Basalt sports fans have plenty to follow, with Roaring Fork boys soccer visiting the Longhorns' field for a league matchup and Basalt volleyball recently topping Roaring Fork at home. A combined Basalt-centered softball, cross-country, mountain biking and golf contingent is also racking up wins and strong finishes across the Western Slope, highlighting local athletes' growing regional impact.
