📰 News we're reading

1. Boulder lays out path for pedicabs (dailycamera.com) — Boulder City Council has unanimously approved new rules requiring pedicab drivers to be licensed, insured, and at least 18, giving police clear authority to enforce safety standards. The ordinance, adopted ahead of busier event traffic, sets modest fees and ensures pedicabs operating after CU games and concerts follow cyclist laws while remaining human-powered only.

2. San Lazaro residents need millions to buy their Boulder County mobile home park before someone else does (9news.com) — San Lazaro Mobile Home Park residents in Boulder County are racing to raise millions by Dec. 8 to outbid an anonymous buyer and convert their community into a resident-owned cooperative. They're seeking about $11 million from Boulder County plus loans and donations to keep lot rents near current levels and preserve long-term affordability for more than 200 households.

3. This is the top party school in Colorado, study finds (kansas.com) — Students and families in Boulder may notice the University of Colorado's flagship campus has again been named Colorado's top party school, according to a new Niche ranking. CU Boulder landed 25th nationally, the only Colorado school in the top 200, even as the university and local groups continue long-running efforts to soften its party-school reputation and promote student safety.

4. Colorado Bureau of Investigation supports findings in original investigation of Megan Trussell's death (9news.com) — State investigators have upheld Boulder County authorities' conclusion that CU Boulder student Megan Trussell died by suicide after disappearing in February 2025, finding no evidence of homicide or missed investigative steps. Her parents, who have searched Boulder's unhoused community for information, say the review left them dissatisfied and plan to seek an independent autopsy review.

5. Boulder County students join statewide walkout to protest ICE (dailycamera.com) — Boulder Valley students, including those from New Vista and Boulder High, joined a statewide walkout protesting federal immigration enforcement, gathering in downtown Boulder after leaving class. District leaders affirmed students' free-expression rights while stressing safety and encouraging alternative civic engagement, as nearby St. Vrain schools urged families to keep students in class despite similar planned actions.
