📰 News we're reading

1. Public Meeting: Boulder County Housing Authority Moving to Work Supplement to Annual Plan (bouldercounty.gov) — Boulder County Housing Authority is holding a hybrid public hearing on September 17 to wrap up comments on its 2027 Moving to Work Supplement to the Annual Plan. If you rely on or care about local affordable housing programs, you can attend in person or via Zoom, speak during public comment, or email feedback that could influence future HUD-funded policies.

2. Call for Artists: HOME — Art About A Forever Place (kgnu.org) — Boulder artists are invited to submit 1–3 works to GNU Art Galleries' "HOME — Art About A Forever Place" exhibition at 1720 14th Street, with entries due September 25. Selected pieces will show from October 17 through January 17, with artists handling their own sales and sharing what "home" means in their work.

3. Boulder launches resilience hub pilot program to keep nonprofits running during power outages (denver7.com) — Boulder has launched a Community Resilience Hub Pilot Program that gives local nonprofits, including Harvest of Hope food pantry on Pearl Street, grants of up to $50,000 for solar and battery backups. That means key services like free groceries and emergency shelter can keep running during power outages, while also offering residents places to charge devices and meet basic needs.

4. Boulder County home sales slow sharply in August as condo market weakens (thebadger.news) — Boulder County home sales slowed sharply in August, with single-family closings down about 20% and condo and townhouse sales off more than 30%, even as prices mostly held steady. Fewer listings, higher mortgage rates, and possible insurance pressures are shaping a cooler, slower market that Boulder-area buyers and sellers will feel heading into fall.

5. Boulder County Invites Agricultural Community to Share Housing Needs and Experiences (bouldercounty.gov) — Boulder County is asking local farm and ranch owners and workers to complete housing surveys, which will stay open through October 30 and help shape future Land Use Code changes. If you work in agriculture around Boulder, your feedback could influence how the county supports safe, affordable worker housing and related funding decisions over the next few years.
