Today's riddle: Why did the cookie go to the hospital? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Prices of Boulder homes plummeted in September (bizwest.com) — Boulder's housing market just saw a sharp shift, with the median September single-family home price dropping to $1,265,000, down more than 21% from a year ago. Sales and listings also slipped, even as nearby cities such as Longmont, Fort Collins, and Greeley saw flatter or slightly rising prices. Buyers and sellers in Boulder may be entering a very different market this fall.
2. Dark Horse restaurant demolition begins after 50 years in Boulder (denvergazette.com) — Crews have started demolishing Boulder's World Famous Dark Horse, the quirky bar and restaurant near CU's campus that anchored local nightlife for more than 50 years. The site is being cleared for a mixed-use development, while owners plan a new Dark Horse location in Louisville. Former staff and regulars are gathering outside the old building to say goodbye.
3. Passes for Sundance Film Festival in Boulder go on sale Oct. 15th (kosi101.com) — Boulder is set to host a 2027 edition of the Sundance Film Festival, with passes and ticket packages for local screenings going on sale October 15. The festival will run January 21–31, 2027, offering in-person and online options plus single tickets starting January 8. It's a rare chance for Boulder-area film fans to experience Sundance without leaving Colorado.
4. Boulder offers San Lazaro residents $1.3M loan to buy mobile home park, but $30M gap remains (boulderreportinglab.org) — Boulder officials have offered San Lazaro Mobile Home Park residents a $1.3 million loan toward buying their park, but it's far below what they need and tied to costly annexation into the city. Residents worry about millions in added infrastructure expenses even as they race to close a $30 million funding gap before a December deadline. The outcome could shape housing stability and school enrollment patterns for many Boulder-area families.
5. BusinessOutside's 8th Annual Eyecare Innovation Summit Brings Industry Leaders, Emerging Companies to Boulder (visionmonday.com) — An invite-only eyecare innovation summit just brought 75 industry leaders and startup founders to Boulder for three days of outdoor-focused meetings, hikes, and networking. Hosted by Boulder-based BusinessOutside, the gathering mixed trail time in the foothills with working sessions on industry trends, leadership, and new technologies. Local residents may notice visiting executives around town and the growing reputation of Boulder as a hub for outdoor-centered business events.
