Today's riddle: What is the difference between a jeweler and a jailer? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• Boulder Valley proposes closing 4 elementary schools (broomfieldenterprise.com) — Broomfield families could see Birch Elementary closed, with students merged into nearby Kohl Elementary under a Boulder Valley School District plan responding to steep enrollment declines. The proposal, which also reshapes several Boulder, Louisville, and Superior schools, aims to save money for smaller classes and more support staff. Final board votes are expected in late September for changes starting in 2027.
• AI adoption in Boulder Valley, Northern Colorado among state's highest (bizwest.com) — Broomfield County residents are among Colorado's heaviest users of generative AI, with a 38.8% adoption rate that ranks second in the state behind Boulder County. A new Microsoft report links this high usage to the area's concentration of knowledge-intensive jobs across tech, professional services, health care, media, and finance, underscoring how central AI is becoming to local work life.
• Broomfield's water conservation efforts are paying off; city unlikely to need mandatory restrictions (dailycamera.com) — Broomfield officials say the city should avoid mandatory watering restrictions this year, thanks to residents' strong conservation efforts during ongoing drought conditions. The city remains in a "drought watch," focusing on voluntary cutbacks, especially among reuse-water customers drawing from Great Western Reservoir. Residents are urged to keep lawns a bit drier and continue efficient watering to maintain this flexibility.
