Today's riddle: What is the difference between black eyed peas and chick peas? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Boulder Valley leaders defend school closure process (dailycamera.com) — Broomfield families face a major change as Boulder Valley's proposal includes closing Birch Elementary and redistributing its students starting in fall 2027. District leaders defended the closure plan during a lengthy work session, arguing it's needed to address declining enrollment and free up millions annually for smaller class sizes and added support staff, despite strong parent opposition.
2. Why a helicopter will be flying over Eldorado Canyon on Tuesday (dailycamera.com) — A Broomfield-based state wildfire helicopter crew will be training over Eldorado Canyon State Park on Tuesday, with flights and hovering expected between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Residents may hear or see the helicopter for several hours as crews practice wildfire suppression and search-and-rescue maneuvers to better protect communities along the Front Range, including Broomfield's wildland-urban interface.
3. Children's Colorado among best hospitals nationwide (denvergazette.com) — Families in Broomfield can take pride that Children's Hospital Colorado, which operates a major hospital in the city, has again been named among the nation's top pediatric systems by U.S. News & World Report. The network earned top statewide and regional rankings and high marks in several specialties, reinforcing that nationally recognized children's care is available close to home.
4. Opportunity Knocks (coloradogolf.org) — A strong showing from Broomfield golfer Zach Gomez has him just three shots off the lead in the Mid-Amateur division of the Trans-Miss Mid-Master Championship at Lakewood Country Club. While Westminster's Pat Grady tops the Mid-Master field, Gomez's steady play over two days keeps a local contender firmly in the hunt heading into the final round.
