Two arrested after shooting in downtown Colorado Springs (fox21news.com) β Downtown Colorado Springs residents should know that police arrested two suspects after officers heard gunfire early Saturday near East Kiowa and North Tejon streets, just south of Acacia Park. Several people were reportedly shot at but not injured before officers quickly located a silver SUV near Nevada and Bijou and took the suspects into custody.

One arrested after attempted burglary at Colorado Springs business, according to police (kktv.com) β Police arrested a 48-year-old suspect after an attempted burglary at a business on Airport Road in Colorado Springs, where an employee was threatened with a straight razor but safely sheltered in an office. Officers say the previously trespassed suspect forced their way back inside, then resisted but was ultimately detained and now faces felony menacing and burglary charges.

Two people hospitalized after hit-and-run on North Chelton Road: CSPD (fox21news.com) β Two people were hospitalized after a hit-and-run Sunday on North Chelton Road near Uintah Street in Colorado Springs, where police say a driver first struck a parked car, then hit the owners as he fled. CSPD is still searching for the vehicle and driver and is asking anyone with information to call the department's non-emergency line at 719-444-7000.

Colorado Springs area literary events starting Sept. 20 (gazette.com) β Book lovers and families in Colorado Springs can dive into a busy week of literary fun, from Tuesday's Stories and S.T.E.A.M. at Deerfield Community Center to Dolly Parton Day book giveaways and All Pikes Peak Reads author visits at Library 21c. Ongoing programs like toddler storytime, Paws to Read, and Chromebooks-to-Go make it easier to learn, read, and connect across the Pikes Peak Library District.

Colorado Springs area military events starting Sept. 20 (gazette.com) β Military families and veterans in Colorado Springs have a full slate of upcoming gatherings, from Thursday's Military Order of the World Wars dinner at Patty Jewett to October's fundraising gala at the World War II aviation museum and November's downtown Veterans Day parade. Ongoing support groups, bingo nights, yoga, and equine therapy programs across the city offer regular ways to connect and get help.
