By slowing water, restoring wetlands, and reducing sediment, the project is already raising groundwater levels and guiding similar work planned just west of the city.
2. Multiple water main breaks reported in Colorado Springs' west side, officials say (koaa.com) — Drivers and residents on Colorado Springs' west side are being urged to slow down and watch for crews as Colorado Springs Utilities responds to multiple water main breaks, including along Delmonico Drive. Some customers are experiencing outages, with repairs and water restoration expected to take roughly six to eight hours while crews isolate and fix the damaged mains.
3. Utilities, CDPHE settle over 11.9 million-gallon treatment plant spill (gazette.com) — Colorado Springs Utilities quietly settled with state health officials after nearly 12 million gallons of partially treated water were released into Fountain Creek, plus a smaller spill into Monument Creek. Tests showed contaminants stayed within legal limits, but the incident exposed monitoring weaknesses, prompted new safeguards at treatment plants, and comes as the city promotes Creek Week cleanup events.
4. Arts Month Concert at Icons (cpr.org) — Colorado Springs residents are invited to an October 7 concert at Icons benefiting the Colorado Springs Conservatory, featuring cocktails, appetizers, and performances by Icons staff and Conservatory mentors. The Conservatory highlights its role as a leading Pikes Peak arts education hub, nurturing local students in theater, music, and recording within an inclusive, mentor-driven environment.
5. Singer-songwriter Noah Kahan helps Colorado Springs nonprofit reach national stage (kktv.com) — A Colorado Springs mental health nonprofit is getting a big boost after singer-songwriter Noah Kahan's Busyhead Project donated funds and invited them to reach thousands of fans at his Denver concert. The Mindfulness and Positivity Project will now bring its digital lessons into 200 classrooms across the Pikes Peak region, training teachers and supporting more than 5,000 local students this year.
