Local residents with experience in recreation, schools, tribes, industry, or community groups can apply through Dec. 20 to help guide how Secure Rural Schools funds are spent.
   

• Cross-country lassos top 10 results over weekend in Gunni (crestedbuttenews.com) — Crested Butte's cross-country team is gearing up for an October 2 meet in Delta, where coaches hope rested runners will shine on a fast course. • Robert 'Bob' James Mick (soprissun.com) — Family and friends in Delta can honor Robert "Bob" James Mick at a memorial service this Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Pioneer Road. The longtime Western Slope barber, ranch hand, and high school sports referee is remembered as a devoted cowboy, husband, father, and grandfather with deep roots across Colorado.
