1. 1 killed, 2 injured in shooting near Denver's Coors Field (denverpost.com) — A deadly shooting near Coors Field early Saturday left one man dead and two others injured in downtown Denver's 1900 block of Market Street. Police say a fight between two groups escalated into gunfire, and no arrests have been announced. The incident follows another nearby shooting in Five Points just a day earlier, and investigators are still seeking suspect information.
2. Denver opens Carpio-Sanguinette Park after several years of renovations (cbsnews.com) — Denver just opened the new 80-acre Carpio-Sanguinette Park and Heron Pond Open Space in Globeville, transforming a long-planned stormwater basin into a regional nature park. Residents can now enjoy a playground, pump track, amphitheater, overlook tower, and restored habitat, funded by grants and Denver's voter-approved legacy fund to bring more green space and environmental cleanup to an underserved neighborhood.
3. Poof: Beloved actor comes home to Denver 22 years later (denvergazette.com) — Denver theater fans are getting a major homecoming as acclaimed actor Jacqueline Antaramian returns to the Denver Center Theatre Company to star as Prospera in Shakespeare's "The Tempest," opening with previews Oct. 2. Longtime subscribers will recognize her from more than 40 past Denver Center productions, and this new run at the Kilstrom Theatre offers a rare chance to see her back on a local stage.
4. Denver's Largest Mountain Park Is A Scenic Escape With Bison And Continental Divide Views (planetware.com) — If you're craving a quick escape from Denver, Genesee Park offers 2,400 acres of mountain scenery, historic bison herds, and sweeping Continental Divide views just 20 miles west of the city. Managed by Denver Parks and Recreation, the free park features hiking trails, scenic overlooks, picnic spots, and safe viewpoints to watch bison that help support conservation and tribal herds across the West.
5. Leith, Elizabeth D. 2026 Evaluation (colorado.gov) — Denver residents voting on judicial retention get a clear picture of Probate Court Presiding Judge Elizabeth Leith, who has been unanimously rated as meeting performance standards. A state commission cites her deep probate and mental health law expertise, strong courtroom demeanor, and fair treatment of parties, based on surveys, interviews, and observation of her work in Denver's courts.
