Today's riddle: How do billboards talk? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Denver pilot creating scholarship endowment at MSU Denver to honor friend and mentor (denver7.com) — A Denver pilot is raising funds to create the Roy Morgan Memorial Endowment at MSU Denver, helping local aviation students afford costly flight training during a national pilot shortage. The scholarship honors Air Methods founder Roy Morgan, whose mentorship and free instruction helped launch the organizer's own career and aims to open similar doors for Denver students from humble beginnings.
2. Denver shool board censures Monica Hunter after investigation (denvergazette.com) — Denver Public Schools' board has formally censured Vice President Monica Hunter after an outside investigation into allegations she used antisemitic language, though the findings were inconclusive. The 4-2 vote, and the tensions among board members it exposed, could shape future leadership decisions and how the district models respectful dialogue for its 89,000 students.
3. Veo launches plan to curb sidewalk scooter riding in Denver (denvergazette.com) — Denver scooter and bike operator Veo is rolling out new technology, fines, and education to curb illegal sidewalk riding, in coordination with the city's transportation department. With millions of rides already logged and stricter detection systems coming, downtown residents, pedestrians, and riders in Denver can expect more warnings, possible fines, and new parking corrals, especially around Union Station.
4. Woman afraid after bias-motivated attack at Denver's Washington Park, police searching for suspect (cbsnews.com) — A woman says she was choked and knocked down in Denver's Washington Park after repeated anti-Muslim comments, and now she and her children are afraid to return. Denver police are investigating the incident as a bias-motivated crime and are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or saw the attacks near South Franklin Street and East Kentucky Avenue to contact Crime Stoppers.
5. Why Denver home closings fell to the lowest point in years (denverpost.com) — Denver homebuyers are seeing the slowest September for closings in years as rising mortgage rates cool demand, even though most recent deals were locked in before the latest spike. Local Realtors report fewer sales but more active listings, giving buyers more choices, stronger negotiating power, and specific opportunities in condos and luxury homes across the metro area.
