Today's riddle: Why do some birds fly south for the winter? 🤔 (Answer below!)
• Denver area events for Oct. 12 (denvergazette.com) — Denver residents have a full slate of things to do today, from a downtown food tour and live music on South Broadway to painting classes and major concerts at Red Rocks and the Gothic Theatre. Ongoing exhibits at MCA Denver, the Denver Art Museum, and the Clyfford Still Museum also offer options if you're planning ahead for later this fall and winter.
• Owners of Colorado tow truck companies indicted for $2.5 million in vehicle thefts (cbsnews.com) — Two tow‑company owners are jailed in Denver after a grand jury indicted them and 10 others on 187 counts tied to alleged vehicle thefts, forged documents, and predatory towing across the metro area. Investigators say the group caused about $2.5 million in losses, targeting everyday drivers and businesses, and used falsified paperwork to quietly take ownership of high‑end cars and trucks.
• Commerce City Police Drones Hit I-76 Crash Hunt [2026] (tech-insider.org) — Commerce City police used their four‑drone "Drones as First Responder" program to help search for a driver after a wrong‑way crash on I‑76, just north of Denver, on October 12. The article explains how the BVLOS‑approved drone fleet can reach dangerous scenes faster than patrol cars, the city's $150,000 contract with vendor Paladin Drones, and growing privacy concerns as similar systems spread across the Denver metro area.
