Weekly Jail Bookings for 8/16/26 to 8/22/26 (junctionnow.com) — Mesa County's latest jail bookings from August 16–22 show a busy week at the Grand Junction detention center, with arrests ranging from DUI and drug distribution to domestic violence and probation violations. Names aren't listed here, but residents can see the full charge details and note that some bookings stem from warrants or prior cases rather than brand-new incidents.
   

2. NEWS POST: Multi-Day Arrest Recap: Theft From Auto, Harassment, Assault (crimewatch.net) — Mesa County deputies handled several serious cases over the weekend, including a stolen credit card used at Grand Junction businesses and an arrest on Saguaro Road where the suspect was found with the cards. Additional incidents in Mack, Clifton, and De Beque involved domestic violence, harassment, and assaults, with all suspects booked into the Mesa County Detention Facility.
   

3. Mesa County Sheriff's Office receives Opioid Response Grant (westernslopenow.com) — Mesa County Sheriff's Office in Grand Junction has secured a $221,700 state Opioid Response Grant to help fund medication-assisted treatment inside the county detention facility. The program combines withdrawal-easing medications with behavioral health therapy, aiming to reduce opioid dependence among inmates while easing the financial load on local taxpayers.
   

4. Police seek driver in fatal Hwy 139 hit-and-run (westernslopenow.com) — State troopers are searching for the driver of a light-colored SUV that struck and killed a 35-year-old man early Monday on Highway 139 just south of Loma. The victim later died at a local hospital, and investigators are asking anyone who saw the crash or recognizes the vehicle to call Colorado State Patrol's Vehicular Crime Unit with tips.
